The Frontier Tavern Project

Tavern's, Inns, Ordinaries have always been essential institutions in societal development. They harken back to the Taverns of Great Britain, the Lesche of ancient Greece, the Caravanserai of India, but also to the more recent Massachusetts Bay Colony where European-American settlement of North America grew its roots. These institutions have always birthed culture; and culture is what separates the human species from anything else on our planet. They are a social gathering point, a common space for self reflection, the passing-on of multi-generational skills, and the grounding point for outward communal growth and have made advances in evolution, that we commonly take for granted, possible. It is the goal of this project to map, document, preserve and share the history of the American Tavern.
